About Jane

Jane's official job title - Winemaker / Communications - scarcely gives an indication of the scope of her role, still less of her expansive personality. Put simply, her work encompasses public relations and wine education. Her passion is as infectious as it is heartfelt. Born in Adelaide, brought up in Alice Springs and an inveterate traveller, she's been around enough to know that the blend of elements that makes up Yalumba and the Barossa is rare indeed and well worth talking about.

To say her life has been colourful would be something of an understatement. The daughter of an Italian migrant surveyor, she grew up on Aboriginal missions and in Alice Springs as her father worked on the construction of schools, silos and airport runways. A winemaking graduate from Roseworthy College, Jane joined Yalumba in 1987 and worked in technical roles before leaving to join Rockford in 1991.

The Yalumba Harvest Market during the 1995 Vintage Festival was the spark that got her home and since then she has thrived as Promotions Manager, Wine Room Manager, story teller and today is our best wine communicator at large. Her new role brings to life the Yalumba story and our philosophies on viticulture, winemaking and the environment. She is our company crusader, spreading the Y-word across the globe.

About the wines

2010 Heggies ChardonnayYalumba Heggies

Winemakers Notes "A pale straw with green tints, this wine shows great intensity on the nose, with fruits such as nectarine and white peach complemented by subtle nuances of fine grained French oak"   Regular Price $22.99   This Saturday Price $18.49

Yalumba The Scribbler2009 The Scribbler Cab/Shiraz

Winemakers Notes "A deep crimson red, The Scribbler 2009 shows excellent concentration and lift on the nose, with redcurrant fruits, spices and licorice complementing fresh floral aromatics of herbs and mints. This is a densely weighted wine with blackcurrants fruit and dark berries. The Shiraz is again nicely layered within a tightly integrated and beautifully structured Cabernet Sauvignon palate.   Regular Price $19.99   This Saturday Price $16.99

2005 Menzies Coonawarra Cabernet SauvignonYalumba Menzies

Winemakers Notes "Unmistakably Cabernet Sauvignon the nose is full, rich and ripe: reminiscent of blackcurrants, cedar furniture, bay leaves and anise. As with recent vintages of "The Menzies" the wine opens with a full berry attack building to a round full mid palate of fruit and oak. The wine is full bodied with great length given by soft, velvety tannis.

Regular Price $44.99   This Saturday Price $34.99

Yalumba Signature2005 The Signature Barossa Cab/Shiraz

Winemakers Notes "Deep dark red in colour this wine displays aromas which are dense and currant, yet pure and bright. The nose shows lifted florals, violets and chocolate mints. The palate is brooding and serious with dark chocolate hazelnuts and warm generosity. The Signature finishes with long fine powdery tannins. Regular Price $49.99       This Saturday Price $39.99

NV Yalumba Museum Reserve Antique TawnyYalumba Tawny

This outstanding old dessert wine is deep tawny in colour, with an aroma of wood aged rancio, elegant brandy spirit and hits of dried fruits and spices. The palate has a firm rich texture, with chocolate and caramel flavours and a persistent aftertaste of nuts and rancio characters. Fine spirit characters produce a balanced drying finish. Regular Price $23.99     Saturday Price $19.99

Once again I apologize for the simplistic way this is coming out but Morgan is still on vacation and I really don't know anything but basic computer - Elliot
